GTA Online Race Modes: Full List & Guide
On this page you find a guide to all the Race Modes available in GTA Online, including the full list of Land Races, Bike Races, Air Races, Sea Races, Stunt Races, and more.
Races in GTA Online involve players driving through multiple checkpoints on the track before reaching the finish line. Races can either be Point-To-Point or be made of multiple Laps, depending on the selected track, with support for up to 30 players.
Just like for other Jobs in GTA Online, completing Races rewards the player with money ($) and Reputation Points (RP) based on the final position in the race, as well as temporary Job Points (JP) that determine the player's place in a Playlist.
GTA Online also features a detailed Race Creator, which allows players to create and publish their own races. Community Jobs may be also officially recognized by Rockstar Games, thus becoming "Rockstar Verified races".
Race Types And Settings
When setting up any Race Job, you can choose the Race Type between the following options:
- Standard: a standard race where the winner is the first to the finish line
- GTA: a GTA Race enables the use of weapons and power-ups that players can pick up and use against each other
- Non-Contact: a standard race where collision is disabled between the players' vehicles
- Rally (only for Land Races & Bike Races): the race becomes a Team race where one drives and one navigates using a headset or buttons. Only the navigator sees the checkpoints
Other available options when setting up a race include the ability to choose the Number of Laps, the Vehicle Class, environmental aspects such as Time of Day, Weather, Traffic and Wanted Levels, whether to allow Custom Vehicles or not, and whether to enable specific features such as Catchup and Slipstream, and more.
All Race Modes in GTA Online: Full List
GTA Online currently features a total of 20 Race Modes, which are all listed below - each with many different tracks available.
Clicking on a Race Mode brings you to the full list of Rockstar Created Races for each mode, with details on allowed Vehicle Classes, Race Length, Number of Players, Locations, Race Maps, Videos, and more.
Land Races
Race rival players through San Andreas using Land Vehicles, ranging from sedans to monster trucks to super cars.
Bike Races
Race rival players through San Andreas using Bikes and Motorcycles.
Air Races
Race rival players through San Andreas using Air Vehicles, such as planes and helicopters.
Sea Races
Race rival players through San Andreas using Sea Vehicles, such as jet-skis and boats.
Impromptu Races
Get ready for a spontaneous and thrilling racing experience in GTA's Free Mode with Impromptu Races. Unlike traditional races, these events can be triggered at any moment during Free Mode, bypassing the need for a lobby. Challenge other players to a race to any chosen point on the map with minimal setup.
Stunt Races
A series of brand-new, high-octane Stunt Races that feature everything from winding tubular tracks amongst Los Santos’ tallest skyscrapers to technical courses through canyons, over water and across the desert. Stunt Races utilize ramps, loops, wall rides, tubes, raised tracks and dynamic objects for a radically new take on GTA Online racing. This is unlike anything you’ve seen before: tracks coiling up into the sky, skyscraper jumps, turbo-boosted corkscrews at 20,000 feet... and that’s before you get to the giant bowling pins and the rings of fire.
Special Vehicle Races
You’ve done loops, jumps, twists and dives across every Stunt Race. And you’ve rocketed, parachuted and surfed every Special Vehicle your underground garage can hold. Now, strap on a Stunt Suit and get ready for new electrifying Stunt Races custom built for Special Vehicles. You might think you’ve mastered every concept car and experimental prototype the showrooms of Los Santos have to offer. But the truth is that in the fine art of hovercar, jetpack, and submersible racing there’s only one way to turn pro.

Transform Races
Instantly mix vehicle and race types as you switch between land, sea and air in Transform Races, the next evolution of stunt racing in Grand Theft Auto Online. Jump instantly from the curves of a gritty, downtown street race straight into a speeding jet high above Los Santos, then dive face first down Raton Canyon on a jet ski and more.
Hotring Circuit / San Andreas Super Sport Series
It’s the moment every stock car Racer lives for. You accelerate into the corner, the track banks up to a near vertical, and somehow you’re held in place by a combination of pulverizing downforce and hysterical fear of death. Now throw in a few turbo strips and a wildly uneven surface, and you can really test that will to live.

Target Assault Races
In Target Assault Races, teams of two strap into a range of weaponized vehicles - one behind the wheel, and the other on the trigger. The Gunner is responsible for destroying targets from a mounted gun, while the Driver races to outmaneuver the opposition for additional points on each lap. After each lap the Gunner and the Driver switch roles, and whichever team finishes with the most points wins.
Issi Classic Races
The Southern San Andreas racing circuit has been hijacked by Britain's fiercest export since Hugh Harrison - the Weeny Issi Classic. Pilot the pint-sized star of The Vespucci Job against 29 other battle-scarred racers across seven all-new tracks designed to put your compact automotive skills to the ultimate test.
RC Bandito Races
No workshop? No problem. While custom variants are welcome, you don't need to own the RC Bandito to jump into any of the 8 all-new RC Bandito Races.
Open Wheel Races
The future of competitive motorsport has arrived, and it’s in a hurry. Brand new open-wheel ultra-performance vehicles. Seven high-speed tracks. Dozens of split-second decisions, from the tires you use, to whether you take that all-important pit stop. And above all: one seat, one driver, one grand prize.
Street Race Series (Tuners)
The Street Race Series delivers exactly what it says on the can: bruising competition on creative tracks built on the streets of some of Los Santos’ most scenic neighborhoods, complete with shortcuts that are as much about risk as they are reward.
See Street Race Series (Tuners) List
Pursuit Race Series (Tuners)
The Pursuit Series offers drivers a more open-ended experience, with checkpoints placed sparsely throughout the map to encourage creative routes — after all, you’ll be competing against your fellow racers, as well as having LSPD’s finest hot on your heels.

Sprint Races (Tuners)
Hey, think you can beat me in a point-to-point Sprint?

Cayo Perico Series
Take to the dirt roads, waterways, and skies of a tropical island paradise — the new Cayo Perico Series introduces 10 new Races around El Rubio’s fortified compound and the surrounding beaches.
Drift Races
Lean into those hairpin turns and over-rotate your tires in pursuit of the perfect amount of angle in Drift Races, utilizing specialized drift tuning kits.
Drag Races
Timing is key in these races as you’ll need to dodge traffic while changing gears. Warm your wheels with a burnout at the starting line, build speed by perfectly climbing gears, and avoid collisions to emerge victorious in this new Race Series for LS Car Meet Members. You also get a limited supply of Nitrous during Drag Races — deploy it wisely to pass an opponent or steal victory in the home stretch.
Note: The Go-Kart vehicles do not have an official Rockstar-created race mode, and can only be selected for player-created races.
