Other GTA 6 Weapons Confirmed Features
The following are other weapons-related features that have been confirmed or leaked for Grand Theft Auto VI:
- There are more Drive-By capabilities: as a passenger, you can stand and shoot from outside the window, as well as from the bed of a truck. This allows using weapons such as Assault Rifles during drive-bys.
- You can shoot while swimming
- The game features Underfire animation (character trying to block gunfire) which adapts based on the weapons held, as well as another animation titled "overdose".
- The Weapon Wheel has been redesigned, and it's similar to RDR2, with the ability to switch between Weapons, Equipment and Gear with R1 / RB
- You can carry weapons on your back. It looks like you can only carry 2 rifles and 2 pistols at once like RDR2, while probably storing your other weapons in your car.
- There is the ability to drop unwanted weapons, as well as dedicated animations when picking up weapons.
- You can switch hands when carrying or shooting a weapon, meaning you can decide to shoot with your left hand instead of your right hand.
- Some weapons and items are also referred to as "Shared", possibly meaning there is both an individual and a Shared Inventory between the two protagonists
- You can carry a Duffel Bag, which could serve to store loot or possibly other weapons
- There are also additional item slots for Painkillers, Health Kit, and Body Armor
GTA 6 Weapons: Frequently Asked Questions
How To Get Weapons in GTA 6?
In GTA 6, just like the rest of the Grand Theft Auto series, there will be various ways to get weapons:
Some weapons can be found scattered around the map, it is mainly the case for melee weapons and basic guns.
On the other hand, the majority of the weapons can be actually purchased through the various Ammu-Nation shops.
There will also certainly be some weapons that can be unlocked when completing certain story missions.
How many weapons can you carry at once in GTA 6?
Once acquired, weapons will appear for selection in an updated version of the Weapon Wheel in GTA 6, which will also feature the ability to switch between Weapons, Equipment and Gear, similar to Red Dead Redemption 2.
And just like RDR2, it seems that GTA 6 will allow a limited amount of weapons to be stored in the Weapon Wheel, instead of an infinite supply like in GTA V.
The leaked videos show the protagonist holding a Pistol in hand, while carrying a Rifle on his back. This means that GTA 6 could feature a more realistic weapon inventory, similar to Red Dead Redemption 2, by having your extra guns stored in your personal vehicle.
It has been confirmed that GTA 6 will also feature the ability to drop unwanted weapons, as well as dedicated animations when picking up weapons.
Will there be Weapon Customization in GTA 6?
Yes, absolutely. We can be certain that there will be weapons customization in GTA 6.
After being possible in Grand Theft Auto V, we can definitely expect the ability to upgrade GTA 6 weapons and guns with a wide range of modifications, such as Magazine, Attachments, Tints, Liveries and special rounds.
Will there be First Person Shooting in GTA 6?
Our prediction is that yes, there will be first-person shooting in GTA 6.
While all classic GTA were exclusively third-person games, this changed when Rockstar release the PS4, Xbox One, and PC editions of Grand Theft Auto V, where they introduced a full-fledged First Person mode.
We expect that GTA 6 will feature both 3rd person and 1st person mode at launch, coming with FPS mechanics, fully modeled weapons, and dedicated first-person animations for moving, shooting and reloading.
Another new feature that has been seen and confirmed for GTA 6, is the ability to switch hands when carrying or shooting a weapon, meaning you can decide to shoot with your left hand instead of the right hand.
How many weapons will be in GTA 6?
While it's hard to tell the exact amount of weapons that will be featured in GTA 6, the number of weapons included in the GTA series has gotten bigger and bigger over the years, and we can expect this trend to continue with GTA 6.
For comparison, here are some numbers from the previous games in the series:
- GTA III: 12 weapons
- GTA Vice City: 33 weapons
- GTA San Andreas: 37 weapons
- GTA IV & Episodes: 30 weapons
- GTA 5 (At Launch): 37 weapons
- GTA 5 + GTA Online: 98 weapons
- RDR2 (At Launch): 63 weapons
- RDR2 + Red Dead Online: 81 weapons
GTA 5 featured 37 weapons at launch, but Rockstar Games have then added over 60 DLC weapons throughout the years, with the total number of GTA V & GTA Online weapons now being close to an impressive 100 weapons.
In Grand Theft Auto V, weapons were divided into multiple classes such as Handguns, Shotguns, Machine Guns, Assault Rifles, Thrown Weapons, Melee, and more. We can definitely expect the same division and variety of weapons to return in GTA 6, with probably an even higher number of weapons at launch.
