The Cayo Perico Heist is a Heist in GTA Online, given by Miguel Madrazo and Pavel and associated to the Kosatka Submarine property.
This job has been added to the game as part of the 1.52 Cayo Perico Heist update on December 15, 2020, and is available on PS4, Xbox One, PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
This is a Solo or Co-Op mode that can be played by 1 to 4 players.

Freemode Preparation Missions
After meeting Miguel Madrazo at The Music Locker, and purchasing a Kosatka submarine, the player has to Gather Intel for the heist, and has to complete a series of Freemode Preparation Missions.
The player can choose between different vehicles and weapons for the approach, based on the missions they have completed.
Preparations must be repeated every time the heist is run. Pavel explains this is because they destroy all equipment to not leave any loose ends that El Rubio can track back to them.
The Cayo Perico Heist: Targets
Primary Targets
The Primary Target is a required piece of intel for proceeding into the subsequent Preparations Missions. Except for the first playthrough, the target changes every time. The value of the target increases if the heist is being conducted on hard difficulty.

Secondary Targets
The Cayo Perico Heist also allows you to steal secondary targets. Although the crew is free to go after every optional loot item that was located during the Gather Intel mission, each member can only carry a limited amount in their loot bag.

The Cayo Perico Heist: Finale
Here it is. The big screen! You see everything you have discovered on the island so far... all locations, all tools, all entry and exit points, all equipment.On the finale screen, the player is required to make selections on the following:
Here you can also hire some reinforcements... air support, sniper support, reconnaissance drone. Once everything is in place, hit the big button, and we go! Alone, with accomplices... this is up to you.
Approach Vehicle
The player can choose between different vehicles for the approach, based on the Approach Vehicle Missions they have completed:
- Kosatka (Kosatka Prep)
- RO-86 Alkonost (Alkonost & Pilot Prep)
- Velum 5-Seater (Velum Prep)
- Annihilator Stealth (Stealth Helicopter & Pilot Prep + Finding one drop zone during intel gathering)
- Kurtz 31 Patrol Boat (Patrol Boat Prep)
- Longfin (Longfin Prep)
Infiltration Point
The player can choose between different entry points for the island, based on the vehicles they have chosen:
- West Beach (Kosatka)
- North Dock
- Main Dock
- HALO Jump (Alkonost)
- Airstrip (Velum)
- North Drop Zone (Annihilator)
- South Drop Zone (Annihilator)
- Drainage Tunnel (Kosatka & Cutting Torch Prep)
Compound Entry Point
The player can choose between two compound entry points, but additional ones appear while collecting equipment on the island:
- Main Gate (Demolition Charges Prep)
- Drainage Tunnel (Cutting Torch Prep)
Escape Point
The player can choose between different exit points, but they can be also chosen on the fly while completing the heist.

TIme of Day
Time of day can make all the difference to an operation. Choose wisely to support your strategy.
- Day - From 12:00 to 19:00 (freezes at dusk)
- Night - From 22:00 to 5:00 (freezes at dawn)
Weapon Loadout
The weapon loadout is pre-selected based on what preparation option was picked.
The player is now given the extra option to purchase suppressors for $5,000.
Hire Support Crew
The support crew provides additional assistance to players during the heist. Some of these options require the player to own certain businesses before they can be used.

Helicopter Backup | $30,000 | Rooster McCraw arrives in a Buzzard and his gunner attacks guards, drawing enemy fire away from players. This Requires Air Defenses to be disabled by the player. |
Recon Drone | $25,000 | Paige Harris provides a reconnaissance drone that reveals the positions of all guards on the island. This Requires Air Defenses to be disabled by the player. Works inside El Rubio's Compound. This is only effective while playing on Hard Mode. |
Weapon Stash | $15,000 | An unnamed character stashes the players' selected load-outs in duffel bags in the hangar at the airstrip, preventing detection when using the Velum approach vehicle. |
Assign Crew Cuts
If there is more than one player in the heist, the leader must assign a specific cut to each participant (set to 15%, the minimum cut).
Mission Objectives
- Go to El Rubio's compound.
- Enter El Rubio's compound.
- Drainage Tunnerl Entry Point: Cut open the grate.
- Go to the underground vault.
- Steal the primary target.
- Escape the compound.
- Escape Cayo Perico.
Note: Although the plan for the heist must be designated when beginning it, only the approach method and weapon loadout are locked in. Unlike other Heists, the player can choose different tactics for the heist on the fly, based on the intel they have gathered and the preparation missions that they have completed.
Elite Challenges
The following are the Elite Challenge Objectives for The Cayo Perico Heist:
- Complete in under 15:00 minutes
- 0 hacks failed
- Full loot bags
- Nobody gets wasted
- Do not be detected while inside the compound
If the objectives are completed in a single playthrough, the player will receive an additional $50,000 bonus ($100,000 in hard mode).
