Casing the Jewel Store

Casing the Jewel Store is a main story mission in Grand Theft Auto V given by Lester Crest , involving protagonist Michael De Santa .

It's the 12° GTA V mission in chronological order, and it takes place in Los Santos.

Michael and Lester scout out a Jewellers in Little Portola.

Gold Medal Objectives (100%)

The following are the Mission Objectives required to obtain the Gold Medal in the mission "Casing the Jewel Store":

Time: Complete within 08:00.
Picture Perfect: Capture all 3 security features in one picture.
- Look directly at the keypad, all three features will be captured.

Note: You can complete each Gold Medal requirement in multiple playthroughs of the mission. You don't need to obtain them all in one single playthrough.

Casing the Jewel Store - Mission Details:

Michael visits Lester, who is operating out of the Darnell Bros factory in La Mesa. Lester brings up the idea of a big hit, the Union Depository, but Michael is reluctant, stating he just needs a small hit and doesn't need to go crazy.

Lester then mentions they either hit a bank in the sticks or a store. Michael chooses the latter as it's usually easier but has to be a big hit. Lester suggests it needs to be gems, with the Vangelico in Little Portola being a good store to hit.

The pair drive to Vangelico. Once there, Michael goes into the store, wearing a pair of glasses with cameras in so he can take pictures of the displays, ventilation and the alarm system the store runs.

Lester also wants Michael to go up to the roof of the building, to see where the ventilation comes out. Michael drives round the back of the store, climbs to the roof via some building work going on at a local store and takes some pictures of the vents from high ground.

Once all this is done, Michael heads back to Darnell Bros to Lester. The pair then decide on the best way to take the store and what crew to pick.

Heist Crew Selection:

The following characters are available to complete the crew for The Jewel Store Job:

Driver.

Eddie Toh (14% cut) - If chosen, he'll give directions and bring bike bikes making it easier in the tunnels. He'll get all the jewelry in the Loud approach.
Karim Denz (8% cut) - If chosen, he doesn't give directions while escaping. The street bikes he brings handles poorly in the mud and will have to stop in the tunnel (if Norm was chosen and fell off his bike). He'll miss some of the jewelry in the Loud approach.

Gunman.

Gustavo Mota (14% cut) - If chosen, he won't drop and diamonds in the Smart approach and he won't crash his bike. He efficiently keeps the customer in check if the Loud approach is taken.
Packie McReary (12% cut) - If chosen, he won't drop and diamonds in the Smart approach and he won't crash his bike. He efficiently keeps the customer in check if the Loud approach is taken.
Norm Richards (7% cut) - If chosen, he misses a lot of the diamonds bringing down the maximum take in the Smart approach. In the Loud approach, one of the hostages will try to escape meaning Michael has to deal with them. With either approach, he will crash his bike before reaching the tunnel, causing casualty expenses. Franklin can grab Norm's bag will riding over it.

Hacker.

Paige Harris (15% cut) - The player will have 90 seconds to grab the jewels.
Christian Feltz (8% cut) - The player will have 60 seconds to grab the jewels.
Rickie Lukens (4% cut) - The player will have between 30-50 seconds to grab the jewels. (30 seconds in original console edition).

Best Approach & Largest Possible Take

For the largest possible take, pick the Smart approach and choose Karim Denz as the driver, Packie McReary as the gunman and Rickie Lukens as the hacker.
