Drug Dealing is a major side activity present in Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars. The protagonist can earn money and make big profits by acquiring drugs at a low price or stealing them from rival gangs, and then re-selling them at a higher price in different parts of the town. Follow our article to learn everything about Drug Dealing in Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars.
Drug Dealing is unlocked after the missions Tricks of the Triad, when Kenny Lee introduces Huang to drug dealing. The mission introduces the player to the basics of the activity, while also giving him his first two drug dealer contacts, Liam and Danny.
Drug Dealing: How it works
The player can trade various types of drugs with Drug Dealers throughout Liberty City. Drug dealers can be part of a specific gang or independent, and they each have a drug of sale and a preferred drug of purchase, for which they pay more money.
Huang can obtain drugs by buying them cheap or stealing them (From Stash Vans or Warehouse Raids), and then selling them for profit to the dealers that are willing to buy them at a higher price. The buy price of drugs is reduced by destroying Security Cameras throughout Liberty City. See our guide on destroying all 100 Security Cameras in Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars. Some of Huang's contacts will occasionally text them about deals, offering to buy product at a higher price for 2 in-game days.
Occasionally, the LCPD will bust a drug deal, giving the player a 2-star wanted level. The chance for a deal bust is higher if the quantity of traded product is higher.
Drug Dealing: Drugs
In Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, there are 6 different drugs available for trade, with different market values. The player can buy and trade these drugs for profit.
Downers and Weed are the cheapest drugs, usually not going over $20 apiece. Acid and Ecstasy are valued higher, ranging between $200 and $500 for a dose, while Coke and Heroin can reach over $1,000 when sold.
Drug | Description | Market Price |
---|---|---|
Downers | "This powerful hypnotic agent kills anxiety dead in its tracks. It could even help the user sleep their way into believing the American dream" | $20 |
Weed | "This medicinal herb and religious sacrament has wafted down through time on a tendril of arcane smoke from prehistory, so that users can chill out and learn to play the sitar." | $20 |
Acid | "These get the user turned on and tuned in, taking them on a flashback trip to the psychedelic 60's ...they'll hear the color and see the smell of their own vomit. Trippy man!" | $200 - $500 |
Ecstasy | "The user will get loved up, grinning, gurning and dancing their tits off, until paranoia, anxiety and confusion tell them to get the hell home." | $200 - $500 |
Coke | "Taking this, the user will walk the line with the Vinewood stars; partying like a God with their new best friend... to the exclusion of all else." | > $1000 |
Heroin | "The user will feel the initial powerful rush, then slide down the slick warm walls of oblivion... forever. The methadone queue just got longer." | > $1000 |
Drug Dealing: Storing Drugs
The player has two types of drug storage, a permanent, stashed one, and a small, mobile one, from which they can sell drugs.
After being introduced to the drug trade, the player will find the Stash Box at every safehouse they own. The Stash Box can hold an unlimited amount of drugs, and cannot be lost. Despite this, the player can only trade these drugs after transferring them to the Holdall.
The Holdall is carried by Huang at all times, and the drugs carried in it can be traded with dealers. If the player is busted, their drugs will be confiscated by the police and lost. Normally, the Holdall holds 50 units of drugs, but after completing both variants of the Excess Delivery side-mission, the capacity of the Holdall is doubled to 100 units.
Drug Dealing: Obtaining Drugs
In addition to buying drugs from Drug Dealers, the player has other ways to obtain drugs, even for free.
Burrito Raids can be performed after the mission Carpe Dime by stealing drug vans from rival gangs. Once stolen, the player can deliver them to the safehouse and check their drug contents. Any drug found by Huang is kept. Afterward, the customized vans can be kept by the player.
Warehouse Raids can be performed at the Spanish Lords Warehouse after the mission Kenny Strikes Back. Similarly to Drug Van Raids, the player will steal the Lords' Drug Van and deliver it to their safehouse to steal the drug contents inside.
Dumpsters can be searched for drugs after the mission Under The Gun. In green dumpsters, the player may find bags of drugs.
Story Missions exist that will award the player drugs instead of money:
- Dock'u'mental (PSP Exclusive) - 15 bags of Acid
- Half Cut (PSP Exclusive) - 5 bags of Coke
- Missed the boat? - 10 bags of Heroin
- Sa-Boat-Age - 12 bags of Ecstasy

- Faster Pusher Man! Sell! Sell! - 10 bags of Coke
