Pileated Woodpecker

The Pileated Woodpecker is a Small-sized bird of the Woodpecker species, featured in Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Online.

This animal can be hunted, but cannot be skinned. Studying the Pileated Woodpecker is required for the "Zoologist" Achievement.

The Pileated Woodpecker can be found in the woodland areas of New Hanover. As omnivores, their diet consists of insects, fruits, nuts and berries. A Bow with Small Game Arrows is considered to be the best weapon to take down woodpeckers. Their carcass and feathers can be used for crafting.

The Pileated Woodpecker yields a carcass and gamey bird meat. Used in crafting and cooking or can be sold. Use a Bow with a Small Game Arrow for a clean kill.
