BREAKING NEWS:
The introduction cutscene and mission to GTA VI has leaked on Chinese social media platform BiliBili by user Ape01who claims to have gained access to a Rockstar Cinematic Director's private portfolio. This shows the whole opening to the game, which we will now discuss in a totally spoiler-free manner.
Note: We cannot link to the video in fear of legal action from Rockstar or TakeTwo interactive. Here at GTABase, we only report on the totally real and reputable news we see.
The opening takes place during a flashback to the American Civil War.
Date: January 4th, 1863.
A ginger man with a birth mark on his face jumps off a small boat and charges onto a battlefield, fighting against Confederate soldiers. The player is quickly thrown into gameplay, in which they fumble around before getting a hang of the shooting. This seems to be GTA VI's method of introducing player to the new combat mechanics, which seem to play similarly to Red Dead II - with clunky dives instead of smooth combat rolls. The player charges towards a man who looks similar to Chris Fromage from GTA VI, who in a cutscene hits the ginger man in the head, cutting to black.
We obviously can't show you screenshots, so we remade the ginger man in the Sims.

The player wakes up in the 1990s, in Vice City. They get in a car with a glowing being, who claims to be fighting back against Kraff. The player is then taught how to drive in this mission.
Unfortunately in the cutscene when the player gets in the car, before gameplay begins, they seem to unceremoniously accidentally kill Tommy Vercetti by reversing over him while trying to work out the pedals. It's disappointing that Rockstar didn't learn from the backlash towards the death of Johnny Klebitz.
As he explores this new world, he sees the world full of lust, decadence, etc, the glowing being explains how Kraff is against all the things that make life fun. He is Kraff's brother, Spuff. Spuff aims to take down the cult.
A very 1980s-style montage plays alongside the song of 'Just Like Paradise' by David Lee Roth. It is the ginger man fighting back against the Epsilon cult through various attempts - including starting numerous other cults, with a lack of success. Nobody else interacts with Spuff, however. It is heavily implied that only the ginger man can see him.
After a couple years time skip, it reveals he has a child in secret with a woman, who he pays off to keep this away from everyone. This child is Jason Duval, the baby’s face dramatically fades into Jason’s as we transition to 2026.
Jason is watching TV, a news broadcast about the city of Los Santos becoming a police state to combat the level of crime that has grown there. Video shows MKII Oppressors instantly being blown out of the sky. He scoffs at this.
Throughout this cutscene, Jason's beard seems to have a weird lighting glitch.
He spots water dripping on the coffee table to his right, sighs, turns off the TV, and heads up to fix the roof.
The video cuts there, and we're left hungering for more.
So what do you think? Is this the grandiose starting to GTA VI? Does it explain the state-wide crime conspiracy Rockstar mentioned in their synopsis of the game? Of course it doesn't. Because today is April Fools, ya dingus! Send this to your friends and see if we can prank them. We know with the state of the internet, we're likely to get at least one person!
