A few minutes ago, during the official Sony event dedicated to PlayStation 5 games, it was announced that GTA 5 is also arriving to PS5, and later also confirmed for Xbox Series X - enhanced and expanded again.
Now with over 130 million copies sold, the record-breaking and critically acclaimed open world experience, will be releasing for the new generation of consoles in the second half of 2021.
The new generation versions of GTA V will feature a range of technical improvements, visual upgrades and performance enhancements to take full advantage of the latest hardware, making the game more beautiful and more responsive than ever.
And for the massive and vibrant community of Grand Theft Auto Online players worldwide, the journey through the ever-evolving, shared world of GTA Online will continue on to the new generation with more new updates including additional GTA Online content exclusive to the new consoles and PC.
There will also be a new standalone version of GTA Online coming in the second half of 2021, which will be available for free exclusively for PlayStation 5 players during the first three months.
Additionally, all PlayStation Plus members on PlayStation 4 will get GTA$1,000,000 (deposited into their in-game Maze Bank account within 72 hours of log-in) each month they play GTA Online until the launch of GTA Online on PlayStation 5.
GTA 5, which originally came out for PS3 & Xbox 360, was already remastered for PS4, Xbox One & PC. Now, it will make a remarkable transition to its 3rd console generation, as Rockstar continues to update and support the game, especially its GTA Online counterpart.
We were all hoping to see some hint to Grand Theft Auto 6 instead, but now we are afraid that any GTA 6 announcement is still a very long way to go. The wait for the new game keeps getting longer unfortunately. Now, we probably won't see anything mentioned about GTA 6 until after GTA 5 is out on PS5, which means not before the end of 2021 - over a year from now.
