Random Events in GTA Online are dynamic free roam encounters that appear while exploring Los Santos and Blaine County. They were first introduced with the 1.49 Diamond Casino Heist update, and are available on PS4, Xbox One, PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
On this page, you find the full list and details for all Random Events available in GTA Online, including both the standard ones and the seasonal-exclusive events. These activities can reward players with cash, RP, exclusive weapons, collectibles, vehicle unlocks, and limited-time cosmetic items.
Unlike standard missions, Random Events happen naturally during Freemode sessions and can be completed solo. Just like GTA V's Random Events in Story Mode, they appear as blue dots on the minimap once players get close enough to the event area.

Police Rescue - Removed
The player could encounter a police transport vehicle carrying Packie McReary while it traveled across Los Santos with sirens activated. By stopping the convoy and freeing Packie, players earned cash, RP, and unlocked him as a gunman for The Diamond Casino Heist. Although Rockstar has now removed this event and made Packie available by default, it remains one of the most memorable Random Events ever added to GTA Online.
Drug Vehicle
The Drug Vehicle Random Event appears when players discover a roadside narcotics deal taking place between gang members. After eliminating the dealers, players can steal the marked vehicle and deliver it to a buyer for a $25,000 cash reward and RP.
Sleeping Guard
Players can find an unconscious guard in random locations around San Andreas and loot a small key from his body. This key unlocks a desk drawer inside El Rubio’s office during The Cayo Perico Heist, allowing players to obtain the exclusive Perico Pistol. After unlocking the weapon once, future encounters reward players with cash instead.
Exotic Exports Vehicles
Exotic Exports is a freemode activity where Auto Shop owners receive a daily list of ten export vehicles, that spawn throughout the map as random event dots. When players locate one of these vehicles, they can steal it and deliver it to the docks for payment.
Skeleton Event
Players can discover a dead smuggler skeleton holding a treasure map near the southern coastline of San Andreas. Interacting with the scene unlocks the Metal Detector item, which is required to locate Buried Stashes collectible on Cayo Perico. Returning players can continue interacting with the skeleton for small random cash rewards.
Smuggler Plane
The Smuggler Plane event tasks players with tracking a damaged aircraft flying across Los Santos and Blaine County. The plane emits smoke and distress alarms before eventually crash-landing somewhere nearby. After locating the wreckage, players can search the crash site for a briefcase containing $25,000 cash and RP rewards.
Smuggler Cache
The Smuggler Cache Random Event begins when players discover a yellow flare somewhere in the open world. Following a trail of additional flares eventually leads to a hidden smuggler stash containing cash and RP rewards. Because the flare routes can branch into multiple paths, the event feels different each time it appears. Players must move quickly, as the trail disappears after a short period.
Crime Scene
The Crime Scene Random Event allows players to collect 5 weapon components used to assemble the Service Carbine rifle. Crime scenes can appear in 10 different locations across San Andreas and are protected by police officers investigating the area. Players must search for evidence pieces while avoiding unwanted attention from law enforcement. Once all weapon parts are collected, future Crime Scene encounters reward cash instead.
Shop Robbery
The Shop Robbery event features a fleeing thief escaping from a convenience store robbery. Players can chase down the suspect and recover the stolen money. After retrieving the cash, players may either keep the money and receive a wanted level or return it to the store owner for a smaller lawful reward.
Finders Keepers
Finders Keepers is a Freemode Random Event centered around stealing supply vehicles from criminal organizations. Players can intercept vans or trucks carrying valuable stock and deliver the supplies to owned businesses such as the Bunker, Acid Lab, or Motorcycle Club operations. If the player does not own the required businesses, the event instead rewards direct cash and RP payouts.
Armored Trucks
In the Armored Trucks Robberies event, players can encounter Gruppe Sechs security trucks parked around Los Santos and Blaine County while guards transport cash deposits. By opening the rear doors using explosives or heavy weapons, players can steal the money stored inside for a quick payout.
LSPD Community Outreach - Removed
The LSPD Community Outreach Random Event allows players to witness police officers interacting with local residents in areas such as Davis and Rancho. Officers can be seen speaking with civilians, showcasing two new law enforcement vehicles (Coquette D10 Pursuit and Outreach Faction). Unlike most Random Events focused on combat or rewards, this activity mainly exists to improve immersion and make Los Santos feel more dynamic.
Getaway Driver
The Getaway Driver Random Event occurs after an NPC criminal completes a robbery in one of 15 possible locations. Players can assist the escaping thief by driving him to a safe location while evading police pursuit. Successfully delivering the criminals rewards players with cash and RP.
GTA Online Seasonal Random Events
Rockstar frequently rotates seasonal Random Events during Halloween, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, and other limited-time event weeks.
Phantom Car
The Phantom Car event is a seasonal Halloween encounter inspired by classic horror movies. During nighttime hours, a heavily modified Tornado Custom appears and aggressively hunts nearby players. The ghostly vehicle can survive significant damage and continues chasing targets at high speed through the streets of Los Santos. The event only appears during Rockstar’s Halloween event weeks.
Slashers Event
The Slashers Event introduces several horror-themed killers that stalk players during Halloween celebrations in GTA Online. Possible attackers include The Clown, The Psycho, The Driver, and The Slasher. Once triggered, the killer attempts to eliminate the player using melee weapons or vehicles. The event creates a tense atmosphere and is considered one of the most unique seasonal activities in the game.
Cerberus Surprise
The Cerberus Surprise event is a Halloween-themed variation of Exotic Exports. After entering a target export vehicle, players are suddenly chased by a massive driverless Apocalypse Cerberus truck. The terrifying vehicle relentlessly pursues the player until the delivery is completed or the player is destroyed. The event became popular because of its horror-inspired presentation and jump-scare style gameplay.
Weazel Plaza Shootout
The Weazel Plaza Shootout is a limited-time festive Random Event inspired by the movie Die Hard. During the event, heavily armed robbers battle police officers on top of Weazel Plaza in downtown Los Santos. Players who defeat the criminals can obtain the WM 29 Pistol, making the event especially valuable for weapon collectors.
The Gooch
The Gooch Random Event is a holiday encounter based on the Grinch. A costumed thief may suddenly attack players in Freemode, stealing cash and snacks before attempting to escape. If players manage to defeat The Gooch before he disappears, they can recover their items and unlock exclusive cosmetic rewards, including a themed outfit and mask.
Happy Holidays Hauler
The Happy Holidays Hauler event features a festive Phantom truck driving around San Andreas during holiday celebrations. Players can follow the decorated vehicle as it drops gifts containing cash, ammunition, snacks, and seasonal clothing rewards.
Yeti Hunt
The Yeti Hunt Random Event sends players into the forests and mountains of Blaine County to investigate mysterious sightings and evidence connected to a legendary creature. After collecting clues spread across the wilderness, players trigger a final confrontation with the Yeti itself during nighttime conditions. Completing the hunt unlocks the exclusive Yeti Outfit.
Valentine's Cheater
The Valentine’s Cheater Random Event appears during Valentine’s seasonal celebrations in GTA Online. Players can discover a man tied to a pole wearing only underwear after apparently being caught cheating. Players may choose to help the victim escape or rob him for quick cash.
Stoner Survival
The Stoner Survival Random Event is a limited-time Freemode encounter that can be started by smoking weed at the Senora Desert Trailer Park. Players will experience hallucination-style visual effects and will have to survive waves of hostile enemies for a reward of cash, RP, and the High Life 420 Outfit. This activity can be played solo or by up to 4 players.
