Time Trials

Time Trials are a Side Mission that players can perform in GTA Vice City Stories.

This is an optional endeavor, but it is required for 100% completion of the game. It's not time-sensitive, meaning it can be played at any point, even after the main storyline is completed.

This side activity is also present in GTA Online.

Time Trials - Mission Details:

In Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories, the player can access several Time Trials and Checkpoint Challenges. Completing them all is required for 100% completion of the game.

Time Trials: Watersports

Unlocked by: Say Cheese

How to start: Can be started by entering the parked Jet Ski behind the Film Studio on Prawn Island.

Rewards: $500 and the Wetsuit outfit

There are 8 different Jet Ski races to complete during the Watersports Courses, each more difficult than the previous. These are the times to beat for every course:

Course 1: 2:45
Course 2: 3:30
Course 3: 3:20
Course 4: 2:45
Course 5: 3:45
Course 6: 6:30
Course 7: 5:00
Course 8: 6:30

Completing all 8 courses awards the player $500, the Wetsuit outfit and progress towards 100% game completion.

Time Trials: Sanchez Time Trials

How to start: Can be started by entering the parked Sanchez at the dirt track in northern Downtown Vice City.

Rewards: $2500

There are 12 different Sanchez races to complete during the Sanchez Courses, each more difficult than the previous. These are the times to beat for every course:

Course 1: 1:55
Course 2: 1:35
Course 3: 2:00
Course 4: 1:20
Course 5: 1:40
Course 6: 2:25
Course 7: 2:10
Course 8: 2:05
Course 9: 2:10
Course 10: 2:55
Course 11: 3:00
Course 12: 2:55

Every course completed awards the player $100. Additionally, completing all 12 courses awards the player $2500 and progress towards 100% game completion.

Time Trials: BMX Time Trials

How to start: Can be started by entering the parked BMX at the dirt track in northern Downtown Vice City.

Rewards: $2500

There are 8 different BMX races to complete during the BMX Courses, each more difficult than the previous. These are the times to beat for every course:

Course 1: 1:35
Course 2: 1:30
Course 3: 1:20
Course 4: 1:35
Course 5: 1:45

Every course completed awards the player $100. Additionally, completing all 8 courses awards the player $2500 and progress towards 100% game completion.

Time Trials: Quadbike Time Trials

How to start: Can be started by entering the parked Quad at the dirt track in northern Downtown Vice City.

Rewards: $2500

There are 4 different Quad races to complete during the Quad Courses, each more difficult than the previous. These are the times to beat for every course:

Course 1: 1:25
Course 2: 1:35
Course 3: 1:20
Course 4: 1:25

Every course completed awards the player $100. Additionally, completing all 4 courses awards the player $2500 and progress towards 100% game completion.

Time Trials: Playground Missions

How to start: Accessible by entering a parked PCJ-600 in 4 locations in Vice City.

Rewards: $500 / mission

There are 4 Playground missions to complete, two of which are exclusive to the PS2 version of the game:

Playground on the Town: The player must pass through 26 checkpoints in Downtown within a time limit of 1:35
Playground on the Point: The player must pass through 27 checkpoints in Vice Point within a time limit of 1:30
Playground on the Park (PS2): The player must pass through 25 checkpoints in Ocean Beach within a time limit of 1:10
Playground on the Dock (PS2): The player must pass through 27 checkpoints near Bayshore Avenue within a time limit of 1:15

Time Trials: Mashin Up The Mall!

Mashin' up The Mall GTA: VCS side mission

Unlocked by: From Zero to Hero

Location: Started by riding the BMX parked inside of the Vice Point Mall

Rewards: $500

The player must collect a total of 50 coronas around the mall in order to complete the mission. The corona's color dictates how it can be picked up: green coronas can only be picked up by performing a wheelie, blue coronas with a stoppie, while red coronas can be picked up in any way. The player has 4 minutes and 30 seconds to complete this mission.

Time Trials: Haiti Hover Race

How to start: Started by entering the Bovver '64 at the west of the Little Haiti junkyard.

Rewards: $500

The player needs to pass checkpoints on sea and land using the hovercraft, and is required to beat the time of 1:45. The reward for completing the mission is $500 and progress towards 100% completion.

Time Trials: Harbor Hover Race

How to start: Started by entering the Bovver '64 east of the abandoned shacks off the coast of Ocean Beach.

Rewards: $500

The player needs to pass checkpoints on sea and land using the hovercraft, and is required to beat the time of 3:45. The reward for completing the mission is $500 and progress towards 100% completion.

Time Trials: Land, Sea and Air Ace

How to start: Can be started by entering the parked Sanchez beside the Ocean Beach lighthouse.

Rewards: $500

The challenge consists of a tri-vehicle race across Vice City. The player starts on the Sanchez motorbike, going through checkpoints on the beach. Then, after jumping on a ramp, they switch to a Jet Ski and drive it up to Leaf Links, where they switch again, this time to a Sea Sparrow. The player must pass all the checkpoints in under 4:30 minutes to complete the challenge and earn $500 and progress towards 100% game completion.

Time Trials: Crims on Wings

How to start: Accessible by entering a parked Biplane at the end of the diagonal runway of the Escobar International Airport.

Rewards: $500

The player must pilot a Biplane through several checkpoints scattered across Vice City, within a time limit of 4 minutes. Completing the challenge awards the player with $500 and progress towards 100% game completion.

Time Trials: Crims on Water Wings [PS2]

Unlocked by: From Zero to Hero

How to start: Accessible by entering the Skimmer behind the Vice City Lighthouse in Ocean Beach.

Rewards: $500

This mission is only available in the PS2 version of the game. The player must pilot a Skimmer plane through several checkpoints scattered across Vice City, within a time limit of 2:30 minutes. Completing the challenge awards the player with $500 and progress towards 100% game completion.

Time Trials: Hyman Memorial O.D.T. [PS2]

Hyman Memorial O.D.T. GTA: VCS side mission

How to start: Can be started by entering the Biplane found in the southernmost hangar on the west side of the Escobar International Airport.

Rewards: $500

This mission is only available in the PS2 version of the game. The player must compete in a triathlon during this challenge. The race begins in a Biplane, the player flying to a Jet Ski in Little Haiti. Afterwards, they cross the sea up to the Hyman Memorial Stadium where they get on a PCJ-600 and finish at the entrance of the stadium. The player must finish in under 4 minutes and 50 seconds in order to succeed the mission.

Time Trials: Caddy Daddy [PS2]

How to start: Can be started by entering the parked Caddy at the entrance of the Leaf Links Golf Club.

Rewards: $2500

This mission is only available in the PS2 version of the game. The challenge consists of a three-lap race around the Leaf Links Golf Club. The player needs to pass through the checkpoints in the golf course in order to complete 3 laps in under 6 minutes. Completing the challenge awards the player $2500 and progress towards 100% game completion.

Time Trials: Skywolf

Unlocked by: Last Stand (final mission)

Location: Started by entering the Hunter parked at the Escobar International Airport.

Rewards: $500

The challenge consists of a checkpoint course using the Hunter helicopter. After passing through all of the checkpoints, the player must destroy an enemy helicopter to finish the mission. The player has 4 minutes to complete this mission.
