Waka-Gashira Wipeout!

Waka-Gashira Wipeout! is a main story mission in GTA 3, given to Claude by Donald Love.

It's the 47° mission in GTA III in chronological order, and it takes place in Staunton Island. It becomes available after completing Liberator.

Donald wants Claude to start a gang war between the Yazuka and the Colombian Cartel.

GTA III: "Waka-Gashira Wipeout!" Walkthrough

Waka-Gashira Wipeout is a main story mission given to the player by Donald Love. In an attempt to lower real estate prices in Liberty City, he tasks Claude with inciting a gang war between the Colombian Cartel and the Yakuza. The player must take a Cartel Cruiser to the car park and whack Kenji Kasen, co-leader of the Yakuza. During the cutscene, Donald Love repeats a mantra to Claude that Avery Carrington once said to Tommy Vercetti in Vice City. 

WARNING: If you're going for the coveted 100% completion stat, be sure to complete all of Kenji's missions! If you complete Waka-Gashira Wipeout before finishing his strand of missions, you will be unable to go back and complete them, therefore preventing you from finishing everything required to achieve the coveted feat. 

Mission Essentials

Before beginning the mission Waka-Gashira Wipeout, you may want to consider collecting a couple of items that will make things easier on you. After completing the mission Arms Shortage for Ray, the Rocket Launcher will be available for purchase from Phil's Army Surplus. It will set you back $25,000, but having it makes the mission much easier to complete. You may also want to consider picking up a machine gun and extra ammo if you don't have one. You can purchase one from the local Ammu-Nation. 

Obtain a Colombian Gang Car

 Once the initial cutscene is over, a prompt on screen will tell you to head north and find a Cartel Cruiser to disguise yourself as a member of the Colombian Cartel. You can find one in Fort Staunton, but to save time, park one outside of Love's building before taking the mission. It will be waiting for you when you get out. 

Gang members won't take kindly to you being on their turf, and Fort Staunton is under Colombian control! They'll be packing Uzis or AK-47s, which can chew through your health rather quickly. When finding a gang car, make sure you have full health, armor, and a weapon to defend yourself with. Be on the move at all times, preferably behind the wheel. Cartel members will drag you out of the car and expose you to their bullets if you idle for too long!

Go to the Car Park in Newport

This mission is notoriously rage-inducing. Upon showing up at the car park, you must drive to the top level and introduce Kenji to the fender of your vehicle. However, he is surrounded by other Yakuza gang members, and the Cartel Cruiser isn't known for amazing handling. On the contrary, it's easy to roll when taking sharp corners. Take it nice and slow as you turn to avoid having to track down another gang car. 

When you get close to the top level, a short cinematic will play, indicating that the Yakuza are aware of your presence. From here on out, you have some freedom with how to complete the mission. 

WARNING: When you are on the top level of the car park, do NOT get out of the car for anything! Doing so will fail the mission, as the Yakuza will identify you and know that the Colombian Cartel isn't responsible for this act of war. 

Whack Kenji

Drive to the top level of the parking structure, and the Yakuza will begin attacking you from all sides. Kenji will be tucked behind a vehicle, and you'll have to drive through a haze of bullets to get to him. Plow over him and make a run for it before the Yakuza has a chance to destroy your vehicle! 

Alternatively, the ramp heading down into the car park can shield you from some of the gunfire. Perform a drive-by on some of the gang members, and once you bring a couple of them down, finish Kenji off and get out of there!

Easier Approach to Waka-Gashira Wipeout

If you don't like the risk presented by the myriad of Yakuza gang members on the top floor of the parking structure, there is an easier approach you can take. Make sure you have a rocket launcher in your arsenal before making the drive to the Newport car park. Head up the structure until the short cutscene plays, making you aware that you've been spotted. Instead of going up to the top floor, go back down one level. Park your car away from any potential blast radius and clamber out of your vehicle.

A message will pop up on screen that you need a Colombian gang car, but you won't fail the mission since nobody can see you here. Pull out your rocket launcher and let off a couple of well-placed shots. Shoot towards the far left, the middle, and the far right. Get back into the Cartel Cruiser and make your way back up top to finish Kenji off!

Most of his men should be taken care of now, making it easy to finish the job. However, you must leave witnesses! If you kill everyone, there will be nobody to testify that the one responsible was part of the Colombian Cartel, and you'll fail the mission! You can also inadvertently kill Kenji, causing you to fail the mission! 

Get Clear of the Area

After killing Kenji, you still have to leave the area unscathed. You could go down the way you came, but slowing down at any point will give any remaining Yakuza more of a chance to destroy your car or to pull you out of the vehicle. If they manage to pull you out, the mission will fail, and you'll have to start all over again. The best approach would be to use the small ramp in the corner of the parking structure to catapult down to the street and get out of there.

Even though you're clear of the scene of the crime, you can't get out of the vehicle until you move to a completely different vicinity on the map. If you get out at any point while you're still in Newport, you'll fail the mission. Once you're in the clear, a prompt will appear on screen for you to dump the vehicle. Completing Waka-Gashira Wipeout will reward you with $30,000.
