After months of silence following the second Grand Theft Auto VI delay, it finally looks like Rockstar Games and its partners are beginning to ramp up marketing for the highly anticipated title - and something big could be coming very soon.
Over the past week, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has appeared in multiple interviews discussing GTA VI, something that rarely happens this far ahead of a Rockstar release. During those interviews, Zelnick confirmed that marketing for the game would begin “soon,” hinted that pricing information would be revealed in the near future, and even revealed that he has seen the game being played internally.
Now, it appears that the first real phase of marketing may have officially begun.
PlayStation Begins Promoting GTA VI

According to reports shared online by multiple players, Sony Interactive Entertainment has started sending emails and notifications to GTA V players on PS4, encouraging them to upgrade to a PS5 ahead of Grand Theft Auto VI’s launch on November 19, 2026.
The message reportedly reads:
“You are a top Grand Theft Auto V player. Get a PlayStation 5 today to be ready for when GTA 6 launches on November 19th, 2026.”
Also, PlayStation users who still play on PS4 but have GTA VI on their wishlist have begun receiving promotional emails, PlayStation App notifications, and console store messages inviting them to upgrade to a PS5 in time for GTA 6's release.
This marks the first major promotional push directly referencing GTA VI’s release date since the latest delay announcement. It’s also a strong sign that Rockstar and PlayStation are confident the game will actually hit its current launch target.
Game Informer Teases Mystery Cover Reveal

Adding fuel to the speculation, gaming magazine Game Informer recently teased an upcoming cover reveal featuring a mysterious “redacted” title.
The teaser notably contained four redacted words, leading many to speculate that the reveal could potentially be Grand Theft Auto VI. The timing has only intensified those theories, as the next issue is expected to be revealed on May 12th - a date that has already become heavily linked with rumors surrounding a possible GTA VI trailer announcement.
Of course, there’s currently no confirmation that the mystery cover is related to Rockstar’s upcoming game, but the coincidence is certainly interesting.
GTA 6's Trailer 3 Coming on May 12?

Speculation surrounding GTA VI Trailer 3 has intensified significantly over the past few days, especially with Take-Two Interactive’s next earnings conference call scheduled for May 21st.
Historically, Rockstar Games tends to release major updates, trailers, screenshots, or announcements shortly before Take-Two earnings calls in order to generate momentum and give investors something new to discuss. GTA VI Trailer 2, for example, was released just days before a previous earnings call.
That pattern has led many to believe Rockstar could be preparing another major reveal before the upcoming May 21st conference call — and one date in particular keeps standing out: Tuesday, May 12th.
Not only would that line up closely with Rockstar’s previous marketing timing, but both GTA VI trailers so far have also been released on Tuesdays. In addition, Rockstar still has Trailer 2 pinned across its social media platforms despite it ending with the now outdated May 26, 2026 release date.
With Rockstar seemingly ramping up marketing activity, PlayStation now openly promoting the game, and Take-Two executives suddenly discussing GTA VI far more frequently, all signs point toward something happening sooner rather than later. Whether that turns out to be Trailer 3, pre-orders, or another major information drop remains to be seen.
