GTA 6 Standard Edition costs $79.99, and the Ultimate Edition costs $99.99. Now, if you think about it, the price of a GTA 6 game isn't really that out of the world. Nintendo has already released several titles costing $80, and the company has managed to get away with it.
So, the distinction of GTA 6 costing $80 doesn't really make much sense. That said, if fans have been confused about whether they should buy the game based on how much content they will get for this amount of money, they are finally going to have an answer.
Rob Nelson spoke to The New York Times and confirmed that it took him 80 hours to complete GTA 6's story-focused playthrough, and we are talking about the story mode here. This means that the story-focused experience alone may take around 80 hours for many players, which is a pretty solid amount of time for such a game.
GTA 6 Story Mode Is Going To Be The Longest In The Franchise

Now, it is worth noting that not a single game in the franchise comes close to being 80 hours long. For instance, the approximate main story for GTA 3 takes around 15 hours, around 18 hours for GTA Vice City, from 30 to 35 hours for GTA San Andreas, 27 to 32 hours for GTA 4, 30 to 35 hours for GTA 5, 16 to 20 hours for Red Dead Redemption, and 50 to 55 hours for Red Dead Redemption 2.
Now, the only game that comes even close is going to be RDR2 because it does have a pretty lengthy campaign. However, you still get around 30 hours more content with GTA 6 based on Nelson's playthrough, which is a lot.
Now, do note that it doesn't necessarily mean GTA 6 story is going to be 80 hours long for everyone. Rockstar's Rob Nelson himself has confirmed that it took him around 80 hours to complete the story-focused playthrough. However, there are some things to keep in mind.
Nelson further confirmed that he did some optional activities that could have narrative consequences. So, think of it as a side quest that may ultimately lead to a plot twist or a major consequence in the story.

Such a side quest can still be considered part of the broader main narrative, so if that is the case, it would be fair to estimate the game's story-focused experience at around 80 hours. However, not everyone will have a similar experience as Nelson, so you may complete it 10 hours earlier or later.
That totally depends on how you play the game. That said, this is only for the story-focused experience, and we already know there are going to be tons of side activities and missions. So, you are looking at hundreds of hours' worth of GTA 6 experiences, which makes the price tag for the game 100 percent worth it.
So, if you have been wondering whether you should buy the game based on its value for money, you probably already have an answer. The deep dive into the recent gameplay has also convinced many fans, with reports suggesting that pre-orders rose almost 600 percent right after.
