On this page, you'll find everything you need to know about the GTA 6 map and its locations, including a recreated version of the recently leaked Leonida map, official map information released by Rockstar Games, and the previous community mapping work based on trailers, screenshots, and other GTA 6 material.

The Grand Theft Auto VI map is set to be one of Rockstar's biggest and most diverse open worlds yet. While the official map has not been officially released by Rockstar, a detailed map reportedly originating from a development build leaked online in August 2026, providing our most extensive look yet at the geography of Leonida.

The main GTA 6 location is Vice City, Rockstar's modern-day take on the iconic Miami-inspired setting first introduced in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. However, GTA VI takes place across the entire fictional state of Leonida, which is inspired by the U.S. state of Florida and extends far beyond the city itself.

Rockstar has officially confirmed several major regions of Leonida, including Vice City, Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park. The leaked map also appears to reveal additional counties, towns, islands and other locations that have not yet been officially announced.

Where Will GTA 6 Be Set? Vice City & Map Locations

GTA 6 Map Location - Vice Beach

  • Set in the modern-day state of Leonida (based on Florida), GTA 6 returns to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City (Miami) and beyond.
  • Rockstar describes this entry as the biggest and most immersive evolution in the franchise's history.
  • The GTA 6 map includes at least six counties and several cities - estimated to be nearly twice the size of GTA V’s map.
  • Confirmed counties include: Vice-Dale County, Ambrosia County, Kelly County, Leonard County, Mariana County, Lummox County
  • The main locations include: Vice City, the Grassrivers (Everglades), Leonida Keys (Florida Keys), Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, and Mount Kalaga National Park.
  • There are rumored to be three major cities, plus four sub-cities and smaller locations surrounding those areas, with a large lake in the middle of the map (Lake Leonida)
  • Many landmarks from the Miami area are accurately represented in the game, just like GTA V did with Los Angeles
  • GTA 6 is rumored to feature 700+ enterable shops and locations, including: Nightclubs / Strip Clubs, Motels/Hotels, Restaurants, Pawn shops, Supermarkets, Fast Food, Gun stores, and Vice City Metro Station. There are also references to functional elevators.
  • A large tennis court can be seen, as well as a football stadium and a large amphitheater.
  • There is a massive Vice City Airport and a functional tram, which also stops at the airport. You can simply walk into the tram to enter it.
  • The GTA equivalent of the Florida Keys is included
  • There is also a swampy area called Grassrivers, similar to the Everglades
  • A location in the game is called Port Gellhorn, as shown on the side of Police Cars. This could mean the world is large enough to have multiple police departments.
  • The Wildlife shown on an in-game chart includes alligators, boars, dogs, snakes, raccoons, birds, frogs, bobcats, and rodents. There are also symbols for plants and toxic waste.
  • GTA 6 includes explorable underwater areas filled with treasure and secrets.
  • Unlike speculated previously, there doesn't seem to be a Gloriana State on the map, but only a Gloriana Key island, with the name likely inspired by Virginia Key.

GTA 6 Full Leaked Map Recreation [August 18, 2026]

An alleged full map of Leonida surfaced online on August 18, 2026, alongside leaked GTA 6 gameplay footage. While Rockstar Games has not officially confirmed the map, the leaked gameplay footage appears to be genuine, with Take-Two Interactive issuing copyright takedown requests against copies circulating online. The leaked material is also reportedly from an older internal development build.

For copyright reasons, we will not reproduce the original detailed leaked map image here. Instead, below you'll find a simplified, independently recreated version of the leaked map, designed to give you a general idea of its overall layout, borders, counties and major geographical areas.

Please note that this is based on unofficial leaked material and may not accurately represent the final version of Leonida. Locations, borders and other details may have changed during development.

GTA 6 Map Rendition by Mapping Community Project

Before the recent map leak, the GTA 6 Mapping Community was piecing together the GTA 6 map using screenshots, trailers, and the leaked gameplay from 2022.

Their work-in-progress map was turning out extremely accurate when it comes to the locations that were already seen from the unveiled footage, such as landmarks, in-game coordinates, seen locations, road signs, and more.

The project remains available below for historical reference and comparison with the leaked map.

  • Vice-Dale County Confirmed
  • Leonard County Confirmed
  • Ambrosia County Confirmed
  • Kelly County Confirmed
  • Mariana County Confirmed
  • Lummox County Leaked

Vice-Dale County (South East)

Everything in Excess

We're a long way from the '80s, but Vice City is still the sun and fun capital of America.

The glamour, hustle, and greed of America captured in a single city. Each neighborhood has something to offer, from the pastel art deco hotels and bright white sands of Ocean Beach, to the bustling panaderías of Little Cuba and the bootleg brands of the Tisha-Wocka flea market, out to the VC Port, the cruise ship capital of the world.

Vice-Dale County is inspired by Miami-Dade County, Florida. It includes the following confirmed locations:

  • Vice City (Miami) - County seat
  • Vice Beach
  • Hamlet
  • Belville
  • Crosstown
  • Dalton Island
  • Ekanfinaka
  • Leaf Links
  • Little Haiti
  • Little Havana
  • Ocean Beach
  • Rockridge
  • South Beach
  • Stockyard (Wynwood)
  • Tequesta Retreat
  • Venetian Islands
  • Vice City International Airport
  • Vice City Port
  • Washington Beach

Leonard County (North East)

Although details on Leonard County are still unknown, it was confirmed from the in-game road signs.

Leonard County appears to be inspired by Broward County, Florida. It includes the following confirmed locations:

  • Waning Sands (Aventura / Pembroke Pines)

Ambrosia County (Middle)

Ambrosia County is likely based on Hendry County, Florida. It includes the following confirmed locations:

  • Ambrosia
  • Lake Leonida

Keeping Leonida Sweet

The battle for the health and wealth of Leonida begins here. In the heart of Leonida, American industry and old school values still reign supreme — whatever the cost. The Allied Crystal sugar refinery provides the jobs, while the local biker gang provides almost everything else.

Kelly County (North West)

Kelly County appears to be inspired by various Florida counties, such as Collier County and Lee County. It includes the following confirmed locations:

  • Port Gellhorn (Panama City)

Live Hard

This is Leonida’s forgotten coast. Cheap motels, shut-down attractions, and empty strip malls won’t bring the tourists back, but there’s a new economy in this once-popular vacation spot. It’s fueled by malt liquor, painkillers, and truck stop energy drinks. Jump on a dirt bike and hold onto your wallet.

Mariana County (South West)

Mariana County is likely inspired by Monroe County, Florida. It includes the following confirmed locations:

Grassrivers

Welcome to the Wetlands

The untamable jewel of Leonida’s crown. You never know what lies beneath the surface of this primordial expanse. The gators may be the most famous attraction, but there are far deadlier predators and weirder discoveries among the mangroves.

The Grassrivers are inspired by the real-life Florida Everglades.

Leonida Keys

Gateway to Paradise

The dress code is casual, the bars are loaded. Life in this tropical archipelago isn’t flashy but it’s easy. Get your buzz on and pull up a deck chair but look out — you are right on the doorstep of some of the most beautiful and dangerous waters in all of America.

The Leonida Keys are inspired by the real-life Florida Keys. It includes the following confirmed locations:

  • Key Lento (Key Largo)
  • Watson Bay (Cedar Key)
  • Catalan Bay
  • Catalan Key
  • Gloriana Key (Virginia Key)
  • The starting apartment for Jason and Lucia, as seen in Trailer 2, is located here in the Leonida Keys.

Lummox County (North)

Lummox County is situated in the northern region of Leonida, and is likely inspired by various North Florida counties. It includes the following confirmed locations:

  • Yorktown (North-West)
  • Mount Kalaga National Park

Mount Kalaga National Park

Wild, Wild Country

Room to breathe on the state's northern fringes. A national landmark up against the state’s northern border, Mount Kalaga offers prime hunting, fishing, and off-road trails. In the lush surrounding backwoods, hillbilly mystics and paranoid radicals live far from the prying eyes of the government.

Mount Kalaga National Park features rugged forests, canyons, and winding riverways. Visitors can enjoy activities like fishing, kayaking, hunting, and off-road racing. The park is home to wildlife such as deer, cougars, and foxes.

Its landscape draws inspiration from Georgia and northern Florida, with the canyon area specifically resembling Providence Canyon State Park in southwest Georgia.

Gloriana State To Also Appear In GTA 6?

GTA 6 - Gloriana State License Plates

In the second trailer of Grand Theft Auto VI, as well as promotional screenshots, some vehicle license plates mentioning another state named "Gloriana" have been spotted.

This has led the community to believe a second state could be featured in GTA 6, speculating it to be in the north of the map, bordering Mount Kalaga.

However, after the recent GTA 6 map leak, it seems obvious that the state of Gloriana is only referenced in the license plates of some of the GTA 6 cars, without physically appearing in the game

Initially believed to be inspired by the real-life state of Georgia, the presence of a "Gloriana Key" on the map (which is based on the real-life Virginia Key) suggests that Gloriana is actually named after the state of Virginia.

It's worth noting that Liberty City has also been mentioned several times by Rockstar's promotional material for GTA 6, including as the place of origin of protagonist Lucia.

GTA 6 Map Leak vs GTA 5 Map Size Comparison

Below you can see a map comparison of the GTA 6 leaked map with the GTA V map, made by Reddit user u/UUT:

gta 6 map comparison with gta 5

We can see that the GTA 6 map is about 70% bigger in size when compared to the map of its predecessor Grand Theft Auto V!

New Cities Added to GTA 6 Over Time?

The initial plan for GTA 6's map was to be larger than ever before and feature locations across North and South America, hence why it was code-named Project Americas.

However, due to changes to Rockstar's work culture approach, this has been scaled back, with the decision to locate the game in Vice City, a fictional version of Miami and its surroundings, with more interiors than ever before;

However, it has been mentioned that Rockstar plans to continue to develop the game's world after release - adding "new GTA 6 missions and cities on a regular basis".

GTA VI Evolving Map: A Fortnite-Style Possibility?

What we know for sure is that Rockstar Games has made changes within its development culture and its approach to launching games.

In order to avoid terrible crunch crises, last-minute changes, employee overwork, burnout, and such, Rockstar has decided to change its approach from a huge first-day launch, with a gigantic map and everything, to a post-launch-oriented method.

This means that we could be seeing a smaller launch upon initial release, followed by many expansions that will add more locations and events to the game as time goes on.

This is partly due to Rockstar paying attention to their employee's well-being, but it’s also useful from a strategic perspective.

Firstly, this change of development culture received positive reactions from the employees. Some staff members who went through crunch periods on earlier games took this change very well and decided to continue working for Rockstar.

Another reason why this might be a positive change is that it will allow Rockstar to plan out its content more carefully. Since there’s no rush to finish a whole game by a certain date, they can focus on individual expansions and locations well after the initial launch and give them proper polishing.

Henderson compares this map overhaul to Fortnite, for example, with a giant meteor crashing into the island and changing its layout during the update. In fact, they have performed map overhauls during seasonal changes.

For some readers, however, the change in development might come as a concern. If this seasonal update approach really ends up sticking to the Fortnite/Warzone format, it might also mean that Grand Theft Auto 6 will also implement systems like the Battle Pass - and it’s a huge question as to how players would react to it.

Still, at this point, all anyone can do is guess.

GTA VI Map Concepts: All Locations in one game?

Even though there’s no solid evidence that Rockstar will go for this approach, having a Map that includes all previous cities from GTA games would truly be a dream.

Fans have already made several custom maps that combine all known GTA locations into a single map, simulating an entire world of interconnected cities we’re familiar with (Liberty City, Los Santos, Vice City, etc.).

Below you can see the Fan-made GTA 6 Map that we liked the most, which includes all the cities and locations in the Grand Theft Auto series:

GTA 6 Unofficial Fan-made Map - All Locations in one GTA

Unofficial/Fan-made GTA 6 Map

  • Los Santos (lower left) from GTA V (and GTA San Andreas)
  • Vice City (lower right) from GTA Vice City
  • Las Venturas (lower center, near the desert) from GTA San Andreas
  • San Fierro (top left) from GTA San Andreas
  • Liberty City (top right) from GTA IV (and GTA 3)

Rockstar previously stated in an interview that they would like to include all previous cities in one GTA game, so this map might be a real possibility somewhere down the road.
