Despite Rockstar Games maintaining radio silence for over a year, Take-Two Interactive reaffirmed last night that Grand Theft Auto VI remains on course for a Fall 2025 release.
During the company’s February 6 earnings call, CEO Strauss Zelnick addressed the status of GTA VI, assuring investors—and by extension, all of us in the community—that there have been no changes to the current release window. While the update doesn’t bring anything dramatically new, it’s a reassuring signal that, at least for now, development is still progressing as expected.
Zelnick acknowledged that, while they're optimistic, nothing is locked in just yet:
“There’s always a risk of slippage, and I think as soon as you say words like ‘absolutely,’ you jinx things,” he told IGN. “So we feel really good about it.”
This cautious optimism tracks with how Rockstar traditionally handles development. It's worth noting that internally, even major milestones like final polishing phases may not become clear until mid-year, so this type of hedging is standard.
When asked for insight into how development is progressing behind the scenes, Zelnick didn’t give much away but emphasized Rockstar’s drive for excellence:
“We know that Rockstar seeks perfection... I never claim success before it occurs. Arrogance is the enemy of continued success. Our whole organization is super excited.”
While it’s not the in-depth development update many fans were hoping for, it’s clear from the tone that the team at Take-Two is fully behind Rockstar and their vision for the next chapter in the GTA saga.
If GTA VI is still targeting a Fall 2025 release, then we’re fast approaching the point where Rockstar typically begins its marketing cycle. Based on previous patterns, fans can reasonably expect the next wave of info - character reveals, story teases, new trailers, and official screenshots -to start rolling out sometime in the coming months.
With that in mind, we hope Rockstar breaks their silence soon. We’re keeping our eyes on all official channels—and you can be sure we’ll bring you every new detail the moment it drops.
