With the recent Extended Look and information, we have seen plenty of new things about GTA 6, and thanks to that, we now have exact details on how big the GTA 6 map is going to be.
The hype has been constantly increasing, and Rockstar has managed to do a lot of damage control caused by the recent leak. From the new information, while we do not have the complete details, we sure have an idea of how big the map in GTA 6 is going to be, and it is going to be massive.
So, How Big Is The GTA 6 Map?

What we know is that the game is based in Leonida, a fictional US state. Think of it as Florida in the real world, and you will get a solid idea of what to expect. Now, there is Vice City, the Leonida Keys, swamps, wilderness, and many more distinct locations and environments.
Without a doubt, the scope of the game is going to be bigger than anything we have seen in Rockstar games before. For instance, Leonida in GTA 6 is reportedly twice the size of GTA 5's world, which is already massive.
Spoken measurements have put the explorable land in GTA 6 at around 125 km. That is absolutely massive. To put that into perspective, the GTA 6 map is expected to be roughly three times the size of Red Dead Redemption 2, while Vice City itself is reportedly going to be around twice the size of GTA 5's Los Santos.
That said, do note that the map size revealed from the original leak was around 83 km, which is still pretty big compared to GTA 5. This estimate came from a leaked map image. However, the community mapping project has since produced a substantially larger estimate of roughly 125 km.
Now, the map size will not necessarily be 83 or 125 km. Neither figure can be treated as definitive at this point, meaning the final map could realistically fall somewhere between the two estimates, or potentially even exceed 125 km.
What's Actually On The Map?
Now, you may wonder: if the map is so big, what is actually going to be on it? Making a big map is not a big deal, but t urning that space into a world that feels alive and genuinely rewards exploration is the real challenge.
So, in the GTA 6 map, you will get Vice City, Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, and Mount Kalaga National Park. Each of these areas brings a different environment to the game, giving Rockstar far more room to create variety across the world.
This is what makes it stand apart from GTA 5. GTA 5 is largely centered around Los Santos and Blaine County, whereas GTA 6 is giving players a much broader selection of locations to explore. You are not simply getting a larger version of the same type of map; Rockstar appears to be building a world with considerably more geographical variety.
Also, the new Vice City is going to be much, much bigger than the old one. That alone should give players a substantial amount of new territory to explore, but the real scale of GTA 6 becomes clearer when you consider everything that exists beyond the city itself.
So, there will be plenty of things to do across these regions, and we may still be underestimating the overall size of the map in the game. If Rockstar manages to give all of these locations enough activities, encounters, and secrets to justify exploring them, GTA 6 could end up feeling far larger than the raw map measurements suggest.
