Following what seemed like an eternity, Rockstar Games finally shared a new look at GTA 6 through Netflix on August 27th.
Many already expected this look at the game to be incredibly successful, but GTA 6 has proven to exceed expectations in a major way. Indeed, this first look has completely won over fans, leading to a massive surge in pre-order numbers following the Netflix Extended Look.
GTA 6 Pre-Orders Went Up By 600%

Recent data from Sensor Tower confirms that the game has seen a huge uptick in pre-order figures across both PlayStation and Xbox.
The former is currently GTA 6’s lead platform, with Rockstar Games also focusing marketing efforts on the PS5. As per Sensor Tower, GTA 6 pre-orders on the PS5 have increased by 606% after the Netflix Extended Look aired globally.
Similarly, Xbox pre-orders saw an increase of 127%. Averaging out the data, Rockstar Games’ pre-orders jumped up by 527% in two days, showcasing the fact that the team successfully reached a broader audience with its Netflix partnership.
Sensor Tower’s sales tracker estimates that the game has already sold nearly 5 million units to date. While impressive, this figure is expected to look quite modest by the time GTA 6 officially launches on November 19 and breaks global records.
Other stats from the website reveal that pre-orders are split in favor of the PS5, with nearly 80% of users buying GTA 6 on Sony’s console. Moreover, the game is said to have made close to $500 million in revenue at the time of writing.
Of course, more marketing beats are expected to follow the Netflix Extended Look, so it will be interesting to see how the team proceeds from here.
Netflix And Rockstar Games Successfully Reached The Masses

This data proves that the team ultimately fulfilled its goal of reaching the masses with its Netflix partnership.
When the GTA 6 Netflix Extended Look was first announced, many were curious why this partnership existed in the first place. However, looking at just how mutually beneficial the GTA 6 debut has been to both companies, things make a lot of sense now.
GTA 6’s presence on Netflix has given the game a spot in the limelight. Many non-gamers tuned in for the gameplay segment, while others viewed it later. The fact that previews for the game followed immediately after this reveal was the icing on the cake.
Ultimately, both Rockstar Games and Netflix managed to make history, adding a unique flair to GTA 6’s gameplay debut. This was something only the Grand Theft Auto developer could have pulled off, and it did so wonderfully. As for the pre-orders, GTA 6 will undoubtedly make history soon, and the latest data already alludes to a record-breaking release.
