Another major Grand Theft Auto VI leak has hit the internet just days before Rockstar Games is scheduled to give fans its biggest official look at the game yet.

Two gameplay clips and what is claimed to be the full map of Leonida were leaked by an individual or group called "CYBERLEEK", with the material quickly spreading across social media and gaming forums. The footage appears to be genuine, and Rockstar Games and parent company Take-Two Interactive have been issuing copyright takedown requests against reuploads, making it considerably more credible than the countless fake GTA 6 leaks that have circulated over the years.

The footage is also reportedly from an older development build, with the material stated to date back to 2023. That is particularly important when looking at the new gameplay mechanics, as Rockstar has had several years to change, improve, or remove systems shown in the videos.

While of course we will not show you any of the leaked gameplay clips, we've put together a recap of everything we've discovered from the leaked map and the two gameplay clips.

GTA 6 Gameplay Clip #1: Jason Plays Basketball

The first leaked gameplay shows Jason at the waterfront property featured in GTA 6 Trailer 2. The clip focuses on a basketball mini-game and potentially reveals one of GTA VI's character progression systems.

Here's what was spotted:

  • Jason starts at the safehouse and jumps down toward the driveway.
  • A boat or personal watercraft can be seen near the property.
  • Jason picks up a basketball, triggering a dedicated mini-game.
  • Players are instructed to aim and hold the button until two rings overlap, before releasing to take the shot.
  • A basketball HUD appears on screen, including a score counter and related interface elements.
  • Jason successfully makes the shot.
  • His Focus stat increases by 2% after scoring, potentially indicating that activities around Leonida can improve individual character attributes.
  • The Focus system could point towards a broader RPG-style progression system similar in concept to the character attributes seen in Red Dead Redemption 2.
  • The basketball eventually ends up in the water, providing a brief look at the game's water and physics effects.

Perhaps the most interesting part of the clip is the Focus increase. If this system remains in the final version of GTA 6, recreational activities such as basketball could have an actual gameplay benefit rather than simply existing as optional activities.

GTA 6 Gameplay Clip #2: Driving, Combat and Police

The second leaked clip provides significantly more information about GTA VI's open-world gameplay.

Jason is seen driving through Leonida before a relatively ordinary road incident quickly escalates into a fight, police involvement, and a wanted level.

Here's a recap of the leaked clip:

  • Jason drives along a highway before moving into oncoming traffic.
  • He crashes into a Scoop delivery vehicle.
  • The delivery driver exits the vehicle and confronts Jason, demonstrating the possibility of road-rage style NPC encounters.
  • Jason engages the driver in hand-to-hand combat, including punches and a jumping kick.
  • After knocking the NPC down, Jason picks up a wrench and continues attacking him.
  • A stamina meter appears during the fight and gradually decreases as Jason attacks.
  • After the stamina meter reaches zero, the edges of the screen appear to darken, potentially indicating exhaustion.
  • A symbol resembling a devil or negative reputation icon appears after Jason continues attacking the incapacitated NPC.
  • This has led to speculation that GTA VI could feature some form of morality, honor, or reputation system, although this has not been confirmed.
  • Jason receives a Wanted level, with the footage apparently showing a six-star system - potentially bringing back the six-star maximum used in earlier GTA games.
  • The police interface appears to indicate that officers can identify Jason based on his appearance, clothing and vehicle.
  • A separate detection or stealth indicator appears to show police awareness increasing as they get closer to identifying Jason.
  • The footage therefore potentially suggests that changing clothes or vehicles could help players evade law enforcement, although the exact mechanics remain unknown.
  • Several vehicle options appear when Jason interacts with his car, including Loadout and Storage.
  • The Storage interface appears to show a capacity of 0/4, potentially allowing players to keep a limited number of weapons or other equipment in their vehicles.
  • A fuel gauge and engine-related information can also be seen in the vehicle interface, suggesting that vehicle fuel will play a role in GTA VI.
  • Two separate money figures appear on screen, potentially representing cash carried by Jason and money stored elsewhere.
  • Several fictional brands are visible, including Scoop, 24/7 Supermarket, Arrow, Hamilton Private Health Clinic and Fast Pass EMS.
  • The song playing during the driving sequence has been identified as "Impact" by SG Lewis, Robyn and Channel Tres.

The police and combat footage arguably provides the biggest collection of new gameplay information. In particular, the combination of a stamina system, vehicle storage, possible police identification mechanics, and a six-star Wanted level suggests Rockstar may have significantly expanded several of the systems that have been part of GTA for years.

However, it's worth stressing again that this appears to be an older development build. None of these mechanics should be considered confirmed for the final version of GTA VI until Rockstar officially reveals them.

GTA 6 Full Leonida Map Leaked

In addition to the gameplay clips, CYBERLEEK has also released images leaking the full map of Leonida. The mapping community project has confirmed its authenticity, as several elements line up with locations and geography previously shown by Rockstar.

While Rockstar previously confirmed that GTA 6 is set in the state of Leonida, showing some of the major areas, they obviously never shared any element of the map itself. Unfortunately, this spoiled the surprise for all of us who wanted to see the full map with our own eyes when the game finally released.

We report here the new key details spotted on the leaked map, read at your discretion:

  • Leonida seems divided into 5 counties: Lummox County, Kelly County, Leonard County, Vice-Dale County, and Mariana County (although an additional Ambrosia County was previously confirmed)
  • Lummox County is particularly interesting because it has not previously been publicly identified in GTA 6 material.
  • Vice City occupies much of the southeastern portion of the map, while large rural and wilderness areas stretch across the north and west.
  • The map appears to show a large airport near Vice City, as well as another airfield further along the southern island chain.
  • Several previously unseen locations are named, including Catalan Bay, Catalan Key, Dalton Island, Gloriana Key and Tequesta Retreat.
  • Unlike speculated previously, there doesn't seem to be a Gloriana State on the map, but only a Gloriana Key island, with the name likely inspired by Virginia Key.

The leaked map should still be treated with caution, as it could represent an earlier, work-in-progress version of Leonida rather than the final map.

Who Is Behind the GTA 6 Leak?

The material has been attributed to an individual or group calling itself CYBERLEEK, although their identity or how they were able to obtain the GTA VI material has not been verified.

CYBERLEEK claims the leak is part of a wider protest against current practices in the video game industry. Its stated objections include digital pre-orders and the loss of long-term access to games or content.

The group has warned that this latest GTA 6 leak may not be its final action, so there could potentially be more GTA 6 footage leaked in the future, although there is currently no way to determine how much additional material CYBERLEEK actually possesses.

GTA 6 Extended Look Coming August 27

The timing of this leak is particularly interesting, as Rockstar is only days away from officially showing GTA VI gameplay.

Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look will premiere exclusively on Netflix on August 27 at 3 PM ET, before being released on Rockstar's official YouTube channel and the GTA VI website six hours later.

That presentation is expected to give fans their most substantial official look at the game yet - and could confirm, clarify, or contradict some of the mechanics shown in this leaked footage.

With GTA VI still scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, the next few weeks could be some of the most interesting yet for the GTA community.
