The long wait for GTA 6 is finally coming to an end, and millions are patiently waiting to play the game as soon as it becomes available on November 19.

Rockstar Games’ work on the dynamic weather, criminal profiling, and several other interesting systems has captured gamers’ attention from across the globe. As the gaming industry closes in on November 19, millions have already purchased GTA 6 before release, with GTA 6 now on track to claim the title of most pre-ordered game of all time.

GTA 6 Will Soon Become The Most Pre-ordered Game Ever

The latest data from analysis firm Sensor Tower reveals that GTA 6 has secured north of 7.7 million pre-orders two weeks out from its release. It is also estimated that Rockstar Games has racked up a total of $751 million in revenue from pre-orders so far.

Data from the same firm last month put the game at approximately 6 million pre-orders. This means that GTA 6 has quickly secured an additional 1 million pre-orders across both PlayStation and Xbox.

The two main platforms also show a predictable sales split, with the PS5 accounting for 74% of all sales so far. The raw numbers aside, the more interesting point here is that GTA 6 is rapidly approaching Cyberpunk 2077’s pre-order record.

Back in 2020, CDPR confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 had secured 8 million pre-orders just before its release on December 10, 2020. This made Cyberpunk 2077 the most pre-ordered game ever, a record that has yet to be broken since then.

However, with GTA 6 already so close to the 8 million mark, the game will undoubtedly overtake Cyberpunk 2077’s pre-order numbers at some point. Recent marketing efforts from Rockstar Games, such as the game’s latest trailer,  have created additional excitement for the title, and marketing is expected to continue at a similar pace until launch day.

For instance, PlayStation is expected to share more details on PS5 Pro enhancements for the title, which could fuel further interest in GTA 6. Similarly, ongoing efforts to publicize the game throughout parts of Miami should bring even more attention to the launch.

How Big Will GTA 6 Be At Launch?

It remains to be seen just how big of a launch GTA 6 will be for Rockstar Games and the entire industry, but many have put forth several bold estimates.

Analysis firm Newzoo previously predicted that Rockstar Games could see at least $3.3 billion in revenue during launch week. This estimate sounds reasonable when considering the fact that the game is already closing in on the $1 billion milestone.

Others have said that Take-Two’s internal forecast aims for 20 million sales on launch day. Whether these figures will come to fruition remains to be seen, but it seems GTA 6 will comfortably outperform its predecessor, which was a major entertainment success in its own right in 2013.

In fact, the current pre-order estimate means that GTA 6 is already close to outdoing GTA 5’s launch day revenue of $800 million. As such, Rockstar Games’ upcoming release will be one for the history books.
