Gold Medal Objectives (100%)

The following are the Mission Objectives required to obtain the Gold Medal in the mission "The Big Score (Subtle Approach)":

  • Headshots: Kill 20 enemies with a headshot.
  • Signal Man: Perform less than 10 traffic light changes.
  • Accuracy: Finish with a shooting accuracy of at least 60%.

Note: You can complete each Gold Medal requirement in multiple playthroughs of the mission. You don't need to obtain them all in one single playthrough.

The Big Score (Subtle Approach) - Mission Details:

Michael, Franklin, Trevor and Lester all meet in Trevor's office at the Vanilla Unicorn. Trevor and Michael get changed into guard uniforms to be able to drive the armoured Securicars cars and drive towards the tunnel entrance with the two additional crew members. Franklin stays behind with the hacker at Trevor's and will meet them at Mission Row after the raid.

Once at the tunnel, the group wait for the two Securicars to arrive. When they do, Michael drops the stinger and drives a bit further down the tunnel. The two Stockades drive over the stinger, puncturing all the tyres. The group then get out of the car, force the security guards out of the Securicars and hold them hostage.

A van appears with other members of the crew appear and change the tyres. Michael tells them they've got a minute to get them done before the GPS picks up that the Securicars have been stopped. Once the tyres are changed, the gang pick one of the guards called Casey to drive with them. This is so they can use his ID to get into the Union Depository and vault.

Once ID is shown, the group drive the Securicars into the garage and be cleared to enter the building. The manager leads them to an elevator and makes small talk. They all head to the vault and Casey opens it. Trevor and one of the guards gets a cart each carrying the gold and push them back to the Securicars.

The group drive the two Securicars away and head to the unloading point at Mission Row. Franklin radios Michael to tell him Merryweather know they've stolen the gold. Play switches to Franklin, who with the hackers help, is controlling the traffic lights and clearing the way for the group while also telling them the way to go to avoid Merryweather. If an experienced hacker is chosen, there is no lag on the traffic light changes.

Franklin successfully guides the group to the meeting point and they all start to load the gold onto the gauntlets. Michael bribes Casey with a gold bar to keep him quiet and send him on his way. Despite evading them, Merryweather still finds their location and a massive gunfight starts.

Michael, Trevor and Franklin protect the crew while they transfer all of the gold bars. If the first driver and gunman are experienced, they won't drop any of the gold bars and all the loot will be transferred but inexperienced crew members can cost them up to $18 million in loot.

Once all the Merryweather guards are killed, the crew all get into the Gauntlets and drive away. Play switches to Franklin, who is driving at the back and must follow the rest of the crew, avoiding any LSPD on their tail. If an inexperienced driver is chosen, they'll crash their Gauntlet while avoiding a tanker, losing a quarter of the take.

The group journey's on through Los Santos and makes their way to the freeway. With an LSPD Maverick on their tail, the group drive into a tunnel and onto the back of some trucks that were waiting for in the tunnel for their escape. Once out the other end, they've tricked the police into thinking they're still in the tunnel, thus losing the cops and their heist being a success.

The screen will go black and then jump forward in time, showing Michael, Trevor and Franklin all getting into a Cavalcade situated in Sandy Shore. The group drive to Michael's house where Lester is waiting for them. Despite all being successful in the heist, Trevor gets in an argument with Michael as he still doesn't trust him. All four end up arguing before splitting up, now leaving the group on bad terms.

The Big Score: Best Approach & Maximum Revenue:

It is important to make the right choices for this heist as it gives the biggest payout of any mission.

The Obvious approach will get the highest revenue as in the Subtle approach the player will have to pay a $300,000 bribe, a minimum of $30,000 to upgrade the Bravados and requires a bigger and more expensive crew.

The best options are Taliana Martinez (5%) and Karim Denz (8%) as drivers. If Karim is inexperienced, he would need to drive the train or he'll crash the helicopter and lose half the score. Hire the cheapest gunmen, Daryl Johns (6%) and either Norm Richards or Hugh Welsh (7%). Use whoever is the most experienced as Gunman 2.

  • Gross take: $201,600,000
  • Lester's cut (12%): $24,192,000
  • Crew cut (26%): $52,416,000
  • Michael's cut: $41,664,000
  • Franklin's cut: $41,664,000
